Ambassador of the United States to tunisia shows support to young entrepreneurs in Jendouba
On December 4, 2019 His Excellency the Ambassador of the United States to Tunisia, Donald Blome, visited a young agripreneur and beneficiary of the USAID Mashrou3i project.
During the visit to Jendouba, His Excellency and representatives of USAID (United States Agency for International Development), met Hayfa Khalfaoui, a young beneficiary of the Mashrou3i project. The visit highlighted the entrepreneurship training and business coaching provided by the Mashrou3i project to young entrepreneurs in Jendouba and the interior regions.
Khalfoui, an IT engineering graduate, launched Lait Espoir in 2019 – the first smart farm in the region of Jendouba. The tech savvy entrepreneur, passionate about dairy farming, decided to use her IT skills to develop innovative software solutions and improve the quality and quantity of her cattle’s milk production. Khalfoui has been supported by the Mashrou3i project in the creation of her business through technical assistance and deep-dive business coaching.
During his visit, his Excellency reinforced the commitment of the United States “in agricultural training and support in adding value to the natural potential of the region.”
Mashrou3i is a public-private partnership project funded by USAID, the Italian Cooperation, the HP Foundation and implemented by UNIDO. Through entrepreneurial training, business coaching and technical assistance, the project empowers young people to launch their businesses, creating jobs for themselves and others in their regions. Mashrou3i aims to create more than 6,000 jobs in 14 interior regions of the country by 2021.
