Empowering rural women through handicrafts in Tunisia
From carpet weaving to pottery, jewellery and traditional clothing – Tunisia has a rich craft heritage. Today, the handicraft sector provides employment for nearly 300,000 people, the vast majority of whom are rural women. But in recent years, the sector has faced increasing challenges, compounded by the Covid-19 pandemic and the decline in tourism.
